Fellowship training


Dr. Erard is fellowship trained in foot and ankle surgery. She completed this training at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington.

Medical Training


Dr. Erard began her post-graduate medical training at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida.

Dr. Erard has published research, served as an orthopaedic consultant, and even worked abroad in Central America and the Middle East.

Dr. Erard is highly respected in her field and has served multiple times as an Orthopaedic Consultant on the very popular Emergency Medicine: Reviews and Perspectives (EM:RAP) podcast.

Dr. Erard has done humanitarian work in Central America. While there, she performed multiple operations to improve the lives of those without access to quality healthcare.

 She's also deployed multiple times as an Army surgeon and cared for Soldiers and American allies in the middle east.

Dr. Uma Erard's Background

Dr. Erard is a former Division 1 athlete with a passion for medicine and service

Undergraduate Studies


Dr. Erard was a division 1 athlete, playing soccer at Kent State University. During her time there, she was captain of the Women's soccer team. 

 Outside of athletics, she focused her efforts on her ultimate goal of becoming a physician.

A passion for service


Dr Erard has always been passionate about service - service to her country and her fellow man. In order to serve her country as a physician, she pursued a career with the US Army. Fortunately, she earned a commission in the US Army and attended medical school on an Army scholarship.

Orthopaedics


Dr. Erard excelled in her medical training and wanted to  practice in a highly competitive field she was truly passionate about. She secured a spot in the field of orthopaedics and began five years of residency training at Dwight David Eisenhower Army Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.

Dr. Erard practices full time in the state of Michigan. She currently serves the greater Grand Rapids community, Rockford, and Big Rapids on the Orthopaedics team at Corewell Health.
